LE FLORAL
The Chardonnay grape variety, originating from Burgundy but cultivated in the Jura since the 10th Century, has become a native of the region. Its great adaptability makes it the most prominent grape variety today, especially on limestone and light soils.
A wonderful expression of the Chardonnay, offering fresh and well balanced wines with aromas of white fruits, hawthorn and acacia notes. The beautiful minerality on the palate reveals a racy and elegant wine.
Drink as an aperitif with cheese gougères. It will also be perfect with langoustines, a beautiful fish and of course all cheeses from the French Jura area: Comté, Morbier, Gex blue cheese and Mont d'Or.
Serve slightly fresh between 12° and 14°C (53-57°F).
2 to 3 years.
Jura is a little piece of land located between Burgundy and Switzerland offering the smallest of the greatest French vineyards. After having been reserved to specialist wine lovers, the exceptional Jura wines are now seductively wining hearts and minds all around the world and international press.
Created in 1937, the AOC (designation of origin) of Cotes du Jura is omnipresent in the north and south of the vineyard, on varied and contrasting terroirs. It is the second leading AOC in Jura in terms of production, and it engages all five of the Jura's grape varieties.
Reception of the grapes, Vatting by gravity into a thermo-regulated tank for the fermentation. They are pressed, and musts are settling under control temperature. Then engages the fermentation maintained at low temperature (20- 22°C). Ageing in stainless steel tanks, on fine lees during 2 -3 months to preserve the wine's minerality, purity of fruit and crisp acidity.
Starting on August 28, the 2023 harvest was well anticipated, particularly for the Crémants du Jura with around 10 days of cutting which allowed to maintain good acidity and finally to obtain a magnificent harvest.
Our most qualitative grapes were the white this year: Chardonnay and Savagnin.
The reds remain on the tightrope and the choice of the harvest date was once again decisive, but here too, everything was well anticipated to offer a beautiful vintage for the reds as well!
No frost in 2023 and we would be very happy to keep this level of harvest every year as 2023 brings the volume well above a ten-year average with something reminiscent of the 2018 vintage, the benchmark vintage in the Jura regarding volumes.
